South Bay attractions?
My brother's coming to visit next week for a couple days and I'm trying to come up with a plan of stuff to do. Monday he's having dinner with friends in the South Bay, so we're planning on hitting up the Winchester Mystery House and the Tech Museum earlier. Any other recommendations? Good places to get lunch? Something else we should try and see?

Presido Trust rejects all three museum proposals, including Lucas Cultural Arts Museum
The Presidio Trust on Monday announced that it rejected all three proposals for the former commissary site near Crissy Field. The team behind the most prominent of those proposals, a museum featuring filmmaker George Lucas’ vast art collection, immediately indicated that it was seeking alternate sites for its project.
Other rejected ideas included the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy’s Presidio Exchange cultural institution and event center, and a sustainability-themed ecological center proposed by the Bridge/Sustainability Institute.
In the roughly two years since the Trust asked for proposals for the site, the debate has morphed into something beyond a discussion about what type of building is best for the site. It has drawn into its orbit national figures -- U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Mayor Ed Lee, Steve Jobs’ widow and even MC Hammer -- who all backed the Lucas Cultural Arts Museum. Others have said any decision should be postponed until the completion of work on Doyle Drive.
In many ways, the arguments over the Presidio have appeared to carry water for larger issues: conservation and tradition vs. change and innovation, big private money vs. publicly respected nonprofits.
The very two-sided debate has pitted “Star Wars” creator Lucas, and his hopes to build the museum for his art collection, against longtime Trust partner the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and its plan to build the multiuse cultural center.
Previous attempts by Gap founder Donald Fisher to open a private art museum in the Presidio were rebuffed. The art collection was eventually donated to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The Presidio Trust requested proposals in November 2012 to take advantage of the eventual linking of Crissy Field to the former military base’s center, the Parade Ground. The Trust’s criteria for the site where the Sports Basement store now sits were that the proposals had to fit in with the national park’s aesthetics, serve as a cultural institution and recognize the area’s history.
The three finalists unveiled their proposals in November, but were all rejected by the Trust for being too big or not suitable for the setting.
Final designs were submitted Jan. 17.

Chinatown advice needed
I'll be visiting San Francisco for one day in a few weeks, and hope to enjoy lunch at a delicious, but inexpensive eating place in Chinatown. Any suggestions? I'll be staying at the Embarcadero Center area and it doesn't look that far from Chinatown.
Also, is it jacket/coat weather there yet?

I'm looking for someone who can do a really funky pixie cut, one that's a good fit for my face and is more interesting than what I can accomplish with clippers. Prefer SF, but nearby Peninsula is OK. It would really be nice if they worked on weekends and weren't too expensive - I don't need all the posh surroundings, just a good haircut!

Comcast internet vs. AT&T U-verse
I'm moving to San Ramon in July and I'm looking into my options for internet service. We don't really watch a lot of TV, but my wife does want to have a landline phone in our new place. Looking at their websites it looks like Comcast offers a better service for phone and internet, but I thought I'd ask around a bit first. Thanks.

Hello sfbayarea, anyone still watching?
I have been using a couple websites including caltenantlaw.com (which is quite helpful, with information about stuff including that late fees in excess of the actual cost to landlords are illegal even if included in the lease; and, that "split utilities" between different units is also against the law - not applicable to renting a room/shared housing). But, we have definitely gotten to the point that we need an actual person (lawyer) helping us.
Trouble is, we're pretty poor (otherwise we probably wouldn't have rented the place that is causing the situation), the lease has a clause stating we're responsible for our own court/legal fees in case of dispute (still researching whether this is valid) and the amounts we're dealing with are *relatively* small (under $5k total, possibly in the $2-3k range); we've already had one lawyer tell us he wouldn't take the case for those reasons.
Wondering if anyone here has experience with a (low cost) lawyer with experience in tenant law they would recommend? Alternately, people you would recommend against? We're in Oakland...

Does anyone know of a public darkroom where I could develop my own negatives and black and white photos in the east bay area?
